Photography by Doug Turner

Welcome to my photo site.  You will find a few samples of what I currently think of as decorative/art photographs, some few portraits, a bit of other stuff like architecture and events images.  Everything here is my own work - even the web site which I have coded myself from scratch.

Have a quick peek a one or two of the public galleries.  You just might find something you like!  I hope that, you will find that my work tends to be both familiar and slightly different at the same time.  My objectives are twofold; first to capture something that I personally like and second to create images that other people might to spend a little time looking at, thinking about, and perhaps even consider using to decorate a personal space.  To that end, I hope you find some of the photos here engaging and perhaps a little intriguing or thought provoking.  In the near future, I will be adding a comment/billboard function for the images in the public galleries.  Feel free to voice your opinions about my work and read what others' might think.

I offer a variety of photographic services, the details of which can be found on the services page.  The private galleries contain images that arise from my commissioned work.

Many of the gallery images have been taken in and around Hamilton Ontario but some are from a little further afield.

Feel free to link any image page on this site to your own web site or social media.  See the Usage Rights page (comming soon) for details.  If you are interested in my ongoing activities, please subscribe to my RSS feed.

Be sure to visit again soon.  I am in the process of revising the site and plan to add more features (and photos) in the near future.

Thanks for taking the time to have look,
Doug

About Hamilton Beach

The south western end of the Lake Ontario shoreline is known locally as Hamilton Beach.  In the past, the beach was was home to a variety of entertainment venues, attractions and restaurants.  Today, most of those destinations are gone, having been replaced with something newer, better or just different.

There were a lot of milkshakes served on Hamilton Beach.  Many of those shakes came from machines like this 40DM.  Virtually all the machines have also been removed from service.  For me, the image is emblematic of my ambivalence about a lost past that was both better and worse than the present.
